In an exciting announcement, Justin Thomas has officially been given the green light to return to golf, a significant update that he shared through his social media on Tuesday. After undergoing a microdiscectomy in mid-November 2025—a procedure he underwent shortly after representing the U.S. Ryder Cup team at the prestigious Bethpage Black—Thomas is now setting his sights on the upcoming Florida Swing as a potential time frame for his comeback to the PGA Tour.
"After some follow-up imaging and consultations with my doctor and team, I'm thrilled to announce that I’m cleared for all golf activities," Thomas expressed in his Instagram post. "It feels amazing to swing freely again and get back to practicing on the course. I'm dedicated to building my strength and endurance to ensure I'm in top golfing shape before rejoining the PGA Tour. I can’t wait to hit the course with my fellow competitors!"
His last appearance on the PGA Tour was at the 2025 Procore Championship, part of the FedEx Cup Fall series where Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley used the event as a final tuning opportunity for his team ahead of their face-off against European players.
With an impressive record of 16 victories on the PGA Tour, Thomas had a notable 2025 season where he finally ended a winless streak that dated back to the 2022 PGA Championship. He triumphed over Andrew Novak in a thrilling playoff at the RBC Heritage, just a week following the Masters tournament. Currently, he holds the No. 12 position in the Official World Golf Rankings.
In a message shared on X in January, Thomas reflected positively on his recovery journey, stating, "Recovery has been progressing well. I'm gradually regaining my strength and fitness at the gym, while also practicing with wedges and short irons. Achieving small victories and exercising patience have been crucial during this process. I’m taking it easy and really focusing on how I feel each day!"
"I’m aiming to make my competitive return sometime during the Florida Swing. It’s essential for me to move past this injury so I can focus solely on the upcoming season's challenges."
As fans eagerly await his return, the anticipation builds: will Thomas reclaim his former glory and add more titles to his name? What are your thoughts on athletes who come back from injuries? Do you think they can return to their peak performance? Share your views!
