Floyd Mayweather Jr. Sues Showtime for $340 Million: Boxing Earnings Scandal (2026)

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Files $340 Million Lawsuit Against Showtime Networks Over Earnings

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has filed a lawsuit against Showtime Networks, alleging that the company has failed to pay him his rightful earnings from fights, which he estimates to be at least $340 million. Mayweather claims that his former manager, Al Haymon, orchestrated a scheme to divert fight revenues into secret accounts, effectively stealing from him.

Mayweather, a legendary boxer with career earnings of approximately $1.2 billion, secured lucrative deals with Showtime for his fights against Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao. The agreement was the most lucrative in boxing history at the time. However, instead of receiving his guaranteed purses directly, Mayweather's share of fight proceeds was wired to an account controlled by his tax lawyer, which Haymon then allegedly stole.

In 2024, Mayweather's new management team requested detailed breakdowns for certain fights, but Showtime refused to produce them, citing a statute of limitations defense for fights in 2015. Haymon claimed the records were lost due to a flood in a story facility, but Mayweather argues that Showtime should have been aware of the theft since Haymon's behavior was unusual for a manager.

The lawsuit highlights a 2005 oral agreement where Haymon agreed to manage Mayweather for a 10% fee, which expired a year later but continued for the next 15 years. During this time, Haymon handled contract negotiations, TV deals, sponsorships, and investments for Mayweather. Banking records reveal large transfers to companies controlled by Haymon, falsely labeled as 'repayment' or 'loan payoff,' with tens of millions of dollars moved to Alan Haymon Development shortly after major fights.

The suit also mentions one-off payments of up to $15 million on dates unrelated to fights, with memos like 'expenses' accompanying many transactions. Haymon only showed Mayweather certain documents to prevent him from learning the exact fight earnings, and he even altered a contract date to misrepresent when it was signed.

Additionally, the lawsuit points to discrepancies in financial documents, allegedly showing inflated expense reimbursements charged against the Pacquiao fight, which were also used for a $20 million reimbursement for the 2015 Andre Berto bout. Mayweather argues that this implies the Pacquiao revenue pool was misused as a slush fund for unrelated costs.

Showtime Networks has not yet responded to requests for comment.
